Hello pretty girls! I hope you all are taking advantage of your last days of summer, I sure am! Here is a quick casual, afternoon summer outfit of the day. I love to take vintage pieces and make them modern. What is the vintage piece I'm wearing you might ask? Exactly, if you can't tell I have succeeded ;-)! It is the floral top! I found this gem in my mother's closet, from ages ago. Isn't it stunning? The key to modernize this top was to remove the over-sized shoulder pads and roll up the long sleeves. Voila, easy and chic! So scavenge your family's closet, you will never know what treasures you will find! ♥ Laura

Hello pretty girls,

I am very excited to share this outfit with you all today. I attended my first Indian/Mexican fusion wedding last weekend. It was so much fun! I bought my first " Indian outfit", which was an experience in itself. If you all haven't been to a Indian/Pakistani boutique, you should. The outfits and accessories are breathtaking and colorful. Warning: You will get overwhelmed! Thankfully there is a lot of help! I do have some tips to share so I'll save them to the end for those of you who are interested. The outfit I am wearing is a ANARKALI SALWAR. There are so many different styles of ethnic outfits. While on my search, I determined that I really liked this beautiful teal color and wanted elegant beading in the front, but not excessive. That made my search a lot easier and surprisingly, was able to find my perfect dress after 5 stores and in about 2 hours! That is pretty amazing, mainly for an experience I had never encountered before.

Now for all of you that are interested, here are some shopping tips that I learned:

1. ALWAYS negotiate prices. I was told that these boutiques raise the prices because the customers always negotiate, and will never pay the full price.

2. Have a budget in mind because you can easily pay more than what you expected. You can even let the sales people know your range so they will show you outfits in your budget.

3. Do not go alone, take a friend to make the choosing process easier. I mean, we all need a second opinion and the sales people will only tell you how good you look, even if you don't (yeah it happened to me haha, thankfully I had someone with me ;-) ).

4. Another tip is to have something already in mind. There is a rainbow of colors and styles, so if you don't have a slight idea of what you want, you will get dizzy in confusion. (I literally started getting a headache, until I determined characteristics I liked).

5. Determine your size because styles are "one of a kind". Once you know your size you can quickly find styles in your size and not look through all the others, and possibly find something you like, without it fitting. Ahhh the nightmare!

6. With that being said, they do alterations, mainly free! So if an outfit is a little tight, or too big, it can possibly be altered for you!

I hope I could help a little and you all enjoyed a differently styled outfit post! Don't be afraid to try something different and out of your comfort zone. That goes for everything. ♥ Laura

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Hello pretty girls! This is the first blog post of a styling series I'm introducing with my sister, Norma. We are going to style the same trend pieces our way. We both have distinct styles and body types, so it will be interesting to see what we come up with. I want to provide variety for you all because we are not all the same size. My personal mission is to inspire all of you to love yourself the way you are, because we are all beautiful and special. I want to talk more about this in a future blog post because I have a lot in mind! So watch out for that.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Meanwhile, in this post Norma and I styled one of the biggest summer trends, "The Ankle Pant". We styled them casually for a comfortable and eventful day. Norma's style is usually more simplistic than mine, but likes to showcase unexpected elements to her outfit. Here she accessorized her outfit with 2 thin belts, one turquoise and the other purple. It's the perfect touch to add interest and variety of color to a neutral grey pant. (Isn't she adorable!) In the other hand, I decided to go bold by pairing a vintage floral top with an already bright pair of pants. Also, I though it would be a cohesive touch to add a floral statement necklace in gold to neutralize all the colors on the shirt. I hope you all enjoyed this first of many other fashion pairings we will tackle.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Hello crafty girls! I hope you all are having an amazing and fun summer. It is excruciatingly hot here in Texas, so I realized I needed more shorts. While cleaning out my closet I found this pair of pants that I hadn't worn in a very long time, and my mind wondered with possibilities. Stripped shorts are pretty trendy right now, so I thought these pants would be perfect to attempt turning them into shorts. Also, I would save money and up-cycle a perfectly good pair of pants I no longer wore. That's a win-win! So long story short, my transformation was a complete success and it was very easy. If you are interested in creating your own shorts, watch the video below. I hope this inspires you to bring new life into your old clothing pieces! ♥ Laura
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Hello beauties!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I've been so in love with this cream shadow, I just had to share. The color tattoo in Bad to the Bronze by Maybelline is my "go to" eyeshadow. It doesn't crease or rub off, which is perfect for the summer heat. You can build it up for a nighttime look and the shimmer is luminous. You will look like you tried a little harder on your makeup, although all you did was rub the shadow with your finger onto your eyelid! That's a huge plus for me. Because I liked this color so much, I bought a white shimmery one in Too Cool, but it does not compare. For some reason it creases and it applies a little blotchy (boooo). There are several other colors that I haven't tried yet but who knows, maybe they are just as good as this gorgeous bronze color. If you try them out let me know what you think. Have an amazing summer!
Hello crafty girls!

Summer is finally here! I am excited about it, but I do have a love/hate relationship with it. I love the flowers booming and the fun outdoor activities, but I also strongly dislike the heat! As you can tell by my pale skin color, the sun is not my friend! Nonetheless, the break we get in the summertime is amazing, so that makes up for it! To initiate summer, I have some special guests. Who are the lovely ladies here you might ask? Well, I want to
introduce to you all my sister and friend. I know you are probably
figuring out which one is which, but you will be surprised! My sister, Norma, is
the beautiful brunette in the purple dress. So now it brings me to my awesome friend Madeline. She has her own blog now (yeyyy), so you all can check her out to view her amazing bohemian style!
It has been a long time since I have blogged or made a YouTube video and I have definitely missed it. Now that it is summer, I want to revamp my blog and YouTube. I have a lot of fashion ideas, so I hope you all like it! Have a fashionable summer pretty girls ♥
Cell phones have turned into a major fashion accessory! I mean who doesn't have at least 2 cell phone cases? I know I do. As girls, we cannot stick to just one design. It's like wearing the same necklace or pair of shoes every single day, who does that!!? Our cell phone reflects our style and personality. And lets face it, we don't always feel like rainbows and butterflies. So here is an easy and inexpensive DIY project that you all will love! Also, did I forget to mention the designs are interchangeable? Yup, you only need one case for infinite designs! How did I not think of this before? It is so simple, it's just a matter of tracing the cell phone case onto scrapbook paper, cutting it out, and applying it to the inside of the case! Easy right?! I also added a video below to help you visualize it ;-). I hope you all enjoyed this extremely easy DIY project and have fun rocking your awesome cell phone designs! Happy crafting ♥

Hello crafty girls! These are the styles I rocked June and July. Believe it or not this is my first time joining the "accent nail" trend. The idea of having different nail went against my symmetrical law of nature! But I finally crossed over to the dark side and loved it (Haha!) I see a whole new world of nail designs now! I can't wait to keep experimenting and start doing more nail tutorials!
Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16235344059725081872noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6363565351076145734.post-65005479247434542632012-06-28T14:28:00.000-07:002012-07-24T10:43:49.764-07:00DIY: Decorate Your Shoes

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; line-height: 150%;">
Hello crafty girls! I'm so excited about this new DIY
because it is very dear to me. Why is that you might ask? Well, this is THE
project that made me decide to actually start a blog and a YouTube channel! So
why did it take me so long to make and post it? Well I'm such a perfectionist
and now with more experience and savvy technical skills acquired, I was finally
able to make the video I envisioned!! So I hope you all enjoy it!

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; line-height: 150%;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; line-height: 150%;">
Decorating and personalizing your shoes is much
simpler than you might think! With just a little bit of creativity you can make
infinite designs that will wow your friends! You will get allot of, "Where
did you get your shoes"? Then you can proudly respond, "Oh these, I
designed them myself ;-)". Awesome right!? It is also a great
project for summer because let's face it, going back to school is all about new
shoes, clothes, supplies, etc. So why not get a head start on a pair (or two)
of newly designed shoes right?! I hope you try it out and have a crafty
summer!! ♥

Hello crafty girls! It is officially

Today is all about the scarf (yes
yet again, what can I say I love them!). Wearing a scarf can get kind of boring
if you wear it the same way every time. So I came up with these 2 easy styles
that can refresh and revamp your simple look to make it more interesting! All
you need is a long necklace and a lightweight scarf! That is it, and it's
simple and cute! I made an instructional video for you all, I hope you like
it!!! If you all enjoy watching scarf styles let me know and I can do more!!
Remember fashion is about having fun and trying new things. And when you can
use items you already own, well that's just awesome! It's a modern way of
recycling what you already have ;-).
Take care pretty girls and don't forget to always be creative ♥

Hello crafty girls! I hope you all had an amazing mother's day, as a mother or daughter, or both!! I'm fortunate to have the best mother ever! She had an amazing Mother's day full of fun and love! This was my outfit for a nice but casual day of shopping and dining! A jean jacket is a great way to take a formal dress from night to day. To finish the look I chose a sandy color cross body bag and wedges and a fun animal print belt. Have fun with fashion, and don't forget that you all are beautiful!

What I wore:

Michele Bohbot Jean Jacket
Enfocus Studio navy ruffled dress
Charlotte Russe animal print belt
Ann Taylor Loft Bracelets
Fossil Watch
Impo wedges (super comfy and inexpensive)

Hello crafty girls! Since Mother's Day is coming up I wanted to do a DIY that you can also do for ANY HOLIDAY! What is tastier and cuter than some cake pops?! They are easy, but a little time consuming I must admit. Nonetheless, they are completely worth it! Here is how I whipped them up!

Ingredients: Any cake mix, cream cheese icing, candy melts, lollipop sticks, and any form of decoration (sprinkles, chocolate, icing, etc).

Super easy instructions:
1. Follow instructions on the cake mix and bake.
2. Once it cools mash it all up and add the icing mixing evenly.
3. Make your balls (place on cooking sheet) and refrigerate for a few hours, or freeze it like I did for like 45 minutes.
4. Heat up the candy melts and first dip the tips of the lollipop sticks to stick on the balls. Let it harden.
5. Now coat the whole ball with the candy melt mixture, decorate, and let it dry & harden (I used a foam piece).

Now all you have to do is either package them individually in little plastic bags or the whole base and pops with plastic wrapping. That's it!! Hopefully you love them because they are a great gift! I hope my instructional pictures help you visualize the easy process.

Happy Mother's Day and Happy Crafting :-)!

PS. This gift ideas is even great for men! Here is my picture to prove it ;-) lol! The Mustache stencil is from here: http://www.kandeej.com/2011/12/diy-craft-gift-idea-mustache-mug.html . Happy Holidays!

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Hands down (pun intended ha!) I had to give the Nail of the Month mention to my lovely little sister! Are these just not the cutest!?! It is a girly and colorful interpretation of a zebra print in red and hot pink! She used the stamping nail art kit (yes yet again). What can I say, it is our new little obsession. But why spend a lot of money on a salon manicure while you can make gorgeous, salon quality designs at home, and fast! But I promise the nail of the month for May (which is what I am rocking right now) is more simple and without the stamping nail art kit. So I hope our designs serve as inspiration for you to have some fun with your nails, because they are also a great accessory! <div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; line-height: 150%;">
I bought this new AWESOME "thing" for making super easy and fast mani/pedi designs. It's so amazing I had to share it all with you! I actually saw an infomercial for this and searched online. I was skeptical with the idea of "stamping" designs onto your nail, but it works like a charm! I actually bought my supplies on eBay and they were fairly inexpensive! If you are interested here is the name of the seller that I got my supplies from, which I am recommending because it is excellent quality and arrived fast!(Seller: xxkaraxx) The best thing is that you can use your own nail polish! You can buy everything separately if it's cheaper (like I did). So shop around! If you are buying everything separately make sure you get ALL these supplies, which are the stamping nail art plates and the stamping nail art stamper and scraper(sold together).

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; line-height: 150%;">
So check out the instructional video I made to see what my hype is all about (haha).

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; line-height: 150%;">
To answer my tip on applying clear nail polish over the design, make sure you wait a while, like a few hours. If you can apply it the next day, even better!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The warm weather is around the corner and it's always exciting to bring in the new season with new fun fashion pieces. Buying new goodies shouldn't have to break the piggy bank; my tip is to choose to refresh your wardrobe with accessories. They can be used with anything and bring a new life to your old summer outfits!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">* Jewelry is the least expensive way to jazz up your wardrobe! Get very trendy, bright, statement pieces. I usually don't recommend buying very trendy pieces because they go out of style very quickly, but I do with accessories, so choose jewelry as your “over the top” trendy pieces!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">* Scarves are fun because you can bring in color and texture to your spring outfit! You can also wear them in infinite ways!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">* Try inexpensive clutches and handbags to use as a statement piece! Brights are in, and you can find them everywhere!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">* Shoes are a great wardrobe transformer as well. They might be a little pricier then the accessories preciously mentioned, but try a cute neutrals or brown style that you can match with everything. Also, a cute funky ballet flat style is perfect and less of an investment!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">* I saved this one for last because it’s my favorite! Try a pop of color on you face! Go wild and try a hot pink lipstick! If you’re not a lipstick person you can add a pop of color on your eyes with a bright eyeliner, or eye shadow; or even try pink glowing cheeks!

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">As you can see there are many ways to bring in spring! So enjoy the new season gals!!
Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16235344059725081872noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6363565351076145734.post-27442698225198843282012-02-09T17:52:00.000-08:002012-02-09T17:52:52.201-08:00DIY: Hair Bun Maker + Short Hair Tutorial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; text-align: center;">
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Just because [we] have short hair, doesn't mean we can't rock a cute up-do, whether it's messy or slick and polished. Sure, we will need an extra amount of bobby pins in our hair but nonetheless, trust me an up-do is possible and easy! I've wanted to make this blog post for a while now for all my short hair ladies out there wanting to create an up-do, but thought it impossible, before now! What better time than around Valentine's Day, Prom, Wedding, and Graduation season!
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">For the bun maker all you need is a pair of tights OR socks (if they match your hair color even better), and scissor. That's it!
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; text-align: center;">
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Now all you do is cut the foot of the tights/sock and start rolling it from that cut edge and just keep rolling until you finish! You will get a do-nut shape like this (below). Make sure the elastic is at the end because it will hold your bun together!
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; text-align: center;">
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; font-size: small;">Now I couldn't show how to make a bun maker and not show how to actually use it and style your hair. So check out the video below for my bun making instructions in action and hair tutorial. So short hair ladies, you too can rock your hair in infinite ways! Love your hair, and happy crafting ♥
And of course I’m going to speak fashion! The biggest trends on the red carpet were variations of nudes and grays. Many looked beautiful, others just plain boring. The best dressed stars that looked absolutely stunning were Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, and Salma Hayek. Angelina dazzled (as always) in a classy cream asymmetrical Atelier Versace gown with a pop of red. The red accessories were perfect as well, and her makeup was dead on with bold red lips and slicked back hair (yes finally!). Nicole Kidman’s stunning grey beaded Versace dress fit her like a glove. This was her fashion comeback because let’s face it, her fashion had been pretty bad lately. Nichole perfectly showcased one of the biggest trends this spring, which is tribal inspired! Lastly, Salma Hayek wowed in a black daring body contouring Gucci gown with gold detailing on the bodice. Also, her hair was flawless in soft curls. All I can say is that I can't wait for the Oscar's!
