Feeling like an Indian Princess for a Day

Hello pretty girls,

I am very excited to share this outfit with you all today. I attended my first Indian/Mexican fusion wedding last weekend. It was so much fun! I bought my first " Indian outfit", which was an experience in itself. If you all haven't been to a Indian/Pakistani boutique, you should. The outfits and accessories are breathtaking and colorful. Warning: You will get overwhelmed! Thankfully there is a lot of help! I do have some tips to share so I'll save them to the end for those of you who are interested. The outfit I am wearing is a ANARKALI SALWAR. There are so many different styles of ethnic outfits. While on my search, I determined that I really liked this beautiful teal color and wanted elegant beading in the front, but not excessive. That made my search a lot easier and surprisingly, was able to find my perfect dress after 5 stores and in about 2 hours! That is pretty amazing, mainly for an experience I had never encountered before.

Now for all of you that are interested, here are some shopping tips that I learned:

1. ALWAYS negotiate prices. I was told that these boutiques raise the prices because the customers always negotiate, and will never pay the full price.

2. Have a budget in mind because you can easily pay more than what you expected. You can even let the sales people know your range so they will show you outfits in your budget.

3. Do not go alone, take a friend to make the choosing process easier. I mean, we all need a second opinion and the sales people will only tell you how good you look, even if you don't (yeah it happened to me haha, thankfully I had someone with me ;-) ).

4. Another tip is to have something already in mind. There is a rainbow of colors and styles, so if you don't have a slight idea of what you want, you will get dizzy in confusion. (I literally started getting a headache, until I determined characteristics I liked).

5. Determine your size because styles are "one of a kind". Once you know your size you can quickly find styles in your size and not look through all the others, and possibly find something you like, without it fitting. Ahhh the nightmare!

6. With that being said, they do alterations, mainly free! So if an outfit is a little tight, or too big, it can possibly be altered for you!

I hope I could help a little and you all enjoyed a differently styled outfit post! Don't be afraid to try something different and out of your comfort zone. That goes for everything. ♥ Laura

DIY: Decorate Your Shoes

Hello crafty girls! I'm so excited about this new DIY because it is very dear to me. Why is that you might ask? Well, this is THE project that made me decide to actually start a blog and a YouTube channel! So why did it take me so long to make and post it? Well I'm such a perfectionist and now with more experience and savvy technical skills acquired, I was finally able to make the video I envisioned!! So I hope you all enjoy it!

Decorating and personalizing your shoes is much simpler than you might think! With just a little bit of creativity you can make infinite designs that will wow your friends! You will get allot of, "Where did you get your shoes"? Then you can proudly respond, "Oh these, I designed them myself ;-)".  Awesome right!? It is also a great project for summer because let's face it, going back to school is all about new shoes, clothes, supplies, etc. So why not get a head start on a pair (or two) of newly designed shoes right?! I hope you try it out and have a crafty summer!! ♥

Fall Fashion Essentials & How to Wear Them

Now that the weather is a little bit chillier, everyone is starting to realize that maybe it’s time to go fall shopping. There are so many different trends that it can get overwhelming! So the question is; what should you buy that will last and not go out of style by next fall? I have made a list of the top fall fashion essentials that are perfect pieces to layer and combine to create beautiful outfits, that won’t break the piggy bank! Plus most importantly, they won’t go out of style!
♥  Long sleeve tees: They are inexpensive and if you buy them in several fun colors, they will give your outfit that needed pop of color to brighten you up this fall! You can wear them solo or use them for layering, they are very versatile!

♥  Accessories: Jewelry, belts, and scarfs are the most inexpensive way to jazz up an outfit. They turn your outfit from BLAH to WOW in an instance!

♥  Outerwear: Such as jackets and blazers not only keep you warm, but transform your outfit. Try a fitted jacket and blazer for a slimming effect, because it is very easy to add pounds with fall fashion.

♥  Dark wash jeans: I recommend these to everyone because they are absolutely amazing! They make your legs look longer and leaner, need I say more?! They also instantly dress up your outfit, opposed to a lighter wash jean. Try a trouser or boot cut jean, they are the most flattering on every body type. Also try a dark wash skinny jean. *Tip* Make sure it’s solid, not bleached nor faded, for a maximizing slimming effect.

♥  Sweaters: They are warm and cozy, and they come in hundreds of styles! Whether it’s a chunky knit sweater, cardigan, cable knit, pullover; any kind of sweater is perfect for fall! Sweaters come in any price range, and add comfort and warmth to an outfit.

♥  Boots, boots, and more boots: A girl can never have too many boots! Right now in fashion, shoe styles are very wide-ranging, and you can find just about any style out there. If you want to make an investment that will last I suggest a leather boot because they will last many years, unlike a synthetic boot that will peel in short time. Also, pick a style of boot that is timeless and doesn’t go out of style. For example, stay away from thigh high, extreme platform, and peep toe boots.
Hopefully this list of essentials help you start a shopping list. If you want to see how I style all the essential pieces together, check out the video below! Have fun shopping !

Halloween Costumes from your Closet: 1950s Inspired

This month of October means Halloween is around the corner! What is exciting about Halloween is that it does not matter the age, dressing up for Halloween is a yearly tradition for many.  I mean who doesn’t like to dress up and play a fun fictional character once a year?! On top of that, you receive free candy?! (Ha) What is cooler than that?! Looking for costumes can be fun as well, and that’s where my craft project for Halloween costume ideas kicks in. I will show you how to find and build your own costume from pieces you already own in your closet! I will also help you with hair, make-up, shoes, and accessories. Altogether, with styling tips I will help you create an awesome characterization that is perfect for Halloween. Best of all it’s FREE! You’d be surprised what you can create with a few pointers.
For this first theme, I got inspired by the 1950’s. The Rock N’ Roll Era (the movie GREASE) is one of the most popular costumes every year! Also the glamorous Old Hollywood was a big signature of the 50’s. The pictures should help you with the key items for the look (with different variations), and the video puts it all together! Hope you get inspired and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
